A couple fast GM SUVs for everyone.
One's just a bit more sleeper-ish then the other.

I'll take #2

Ah, but you missed the sleepiest of all!

Agreed, something about gm/saab badge engineering excites me.

I'm still sad that the SS didn't get this.

...Is that a twin turbocharged Atlas I6?

FACTORY... twin turbo'd Atlas. This was supposed to go in the SS.

What's the Trailblazer SS like? I've never heard anyone say a word about them

What the fuck GM!?

I have no idea honestly, never had any seat time in one.
I feel like someone on here owned one at some point... Maybe they'll chime in eventually.

This is why I have problems with GM. They don't fix whats broken(most of their 4-speed auto's), but they get rid of what isn't broken. Then they cock tease shit like this.

While it's no twin turbo'd Atlas, I think we can both agree the 6.0L V8 isn't exactly a compromise...

But it is. The 4.2 weighs about the same, and the tuneability of a turbo'd engine would have been great. If someone gave me a free 6.0, I wouldn't say no though.

I yesterday saw my first Trailblazer SS. What a beautiful car. Seriously, I'm very impressed with the way it looks. Are the underpinnings any good?

Suspensions been lowered and stiffened and it has the 6.0L V8 from the early C6 Corvette. Over 400 horsepower I think.

Here have a taste of what that would've sounded like.

I have a Chevy SSR which is mechanically very similar. The LS2 is an amazing motor and the chassis leans towards a cruising set up - a little cushier than a Mustang GT. It surprising how fast something like this can hustle when properly motivated.

I miss my mom's old 2004 TrailBlazer LS with the 4.2 Atlas I6. It was so nice for a mid 2000s SUV. It sounded great as well.

It is one of the best kept secrets of engines. It has an insane engine note.

I drove my parents TB before I got my 4Runner, and I still miss that engine. It was perfect. GM can do the shit out of engines, nothing else, but their engines are amazing.

They really know how to hit a home run with engine design. My mom also has a TB. It is so muffled down, but little bit you do get is awesome. Simply an awesome powerplant.

They are also great highway cruisers. They also are pretty fast, 127 in a midsize bof suv is no joke. Not that when I was 16 I tried it or anything...

Dayum, that sounds intriguing.

Suspension is so soft and smooth that speed can sneak up on you.

Overall it is a pretty decent vehicle. It tries to be an SUV where you can have your cake and eat it too. It retained its towing ability, unlike the Jeep SRT8, plenty of power, great ground clearance, optional AWD and a decent interior with a decent exterior to match. The ride is a little stiff compared to your average grocery getter SUV, but it handles surprisingly well considering it's massive curb weight.
The main con would be MPG. Don't expect much more than 14 out of this thing. It is like driving a brick into the wind. Rear seating room is also a tiny bit lacking for a large SUV. Also, the design of the rear doors being flared at the bottom causes a massive amount of paint shipping and pitting over time.
